Monaghan won the Shamrock Cup for the first time since 2013 in an entertaining final against Derry in Cremartin last Sunday 19th February. Monaghan begin their defence of the Ulster U-21 FC title against Antrim in the preliminary round on March 8. Well done to our very own Shane Woods on a great game and playing U21 for the county.

Our Weekly Prediction league will be back next week – more to follow on next week’s notes and best of luck to all who have entered into this league on your predictions for this weekend of games.
Juveniles Notes
The juveniles had their presentation night last Sunday night 19th Feb with a great attendance and a good night’s craic.
First up for the awards was the U10s who won the tournament in Mullahoran. And we will never forget Mullahoran.
Next up with the U12s. Most improved player was Colm McNulty and player of the year was Dylan McConnell.
Then we had the U14s. Most improved player Ciaran Martin and player of the year was Shane Hanratty.
Finally, our U16s most improved player Patrick Burns and player of the year Jarlath McGahon.
Our overall juvenile player of the year award went to Andrew Woods. No one could dispute that Andrew has played brilliant for the last 10 years in juveniles. He stood out not only in Inniskeen but throughout the County.
We would like to thank Donal Meegan who presented the awards on the night and for bringing up the Ulster U21 trophy. We would also like to thank Inniskeen Community Centre for the venue to host the event.

Allianz Hurling League
Monaghan seal a memorable victory against Donegal. A point by top scorer and man of the match Donal Meegan saw a resilient Monaghan snatch the narrowest of victories over Donegal in this absorbing contest that built to an exhilarating finish in Castleblayney last Sunday 19th February. The Inis Caoin Grattans lads didn’t let the club or county down by fighting tooth and nail for the Monaghan Jersey. Well done lads – great to see.
