Ulster Championship:
Inniskeen Ladies booked their place in the Junior Ulster Final by overcoming Cloughaneely (Donegal) last Sunday, with a finishing score line of  3-10 to 1-03. Inniskeen had all the ground work done by half time going in at the break with a comfortable 5 point lead. Despite the persistent rain underground footing in Grattan Pairc was good which allowed both teams get about the business of playing football. Inniskeen forged ahead with an early goal from the boot of Voureen Quigley and some fine points taken by Bronagh Duffy, Miriam Kelly and Roisin McKenna before Cloughaneely replied with a point from a free. A second goal for Inniskeen followed before Cloughaneely found form. A dithering ball in the Inniskeen square provided the opportunity Cloughaneely needed to get a goal and it now looked like game on. However their dominant spell was short lived due to the harrying nature of the Inniskeen defence and they only managed one further score before the break. Inniskeen extended their lead in the second half with a rally of impressive scores before a punched ball off Roisin McKenna found the back of the net. This proved to be the end for “The Forgotten County” ladies.
After the game both teams and supporters enjoyed well deserved refreshments.
We now face Tyrone’s Sperrin Óg on the 29th October. Venue to be announced. A huge Thank You to all those who tolerated the rain to cheer us on. Go raibh mile mhaith agat.
